The Highlands Trip

Day 1 - Friday, July 31 2020 Distance: 472km Ride time: 7:00hrs Weather:  Sunny warm 26c low humidity  From: Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON End: North Bay Today’s ride is a transition day from my home yo my friend’s home in North Bay. Nothing out of the ordinary for the Friday of the start of the a long holiday weekend in Ontario.  The QEW and 407 jab very little traffic as expected with COVID-19, but the 400 from Toronto to Barrie was packed with cottage goers with boats and trailers. Slow in some spots but no accidents or major backups.  Stopped for lunch in Huntsville at 12:30 for half an hour and a must stop in South River to photograph the 1884 Historic CN Station.  Peter enjoying his first MC trip after emigrating from Australia in Feb 2019, he is fitting in with new adventures.  CN Station South River, ON  Tomorrow Ben and I will start the real motorcycle trip through Northwestern Quebec.   More to come. 

Trip Synopsis This is a 7 day trip through Northern and Eastern Ontario plus a two-day visit to the Western area of Quebec basically in the area of Noranda and Val o'dor.  But the focus will be doing the Highlands Motorcycle Loop in Eastern Ontario. I will be traveling on my trusted Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Nomad with my close friend and riding partner Benjamin Gerard on his Suzuki M209. The COVID-19 Pandemic has placed some restrictions on this trip and this trip was originally planned way back in the Fall of 2019 to riding Ohio's Windy 9's. This trip was promptly canceled way back in February.
